New Bow Parents
This page is to help those of you who are new to the bow world. We understand how confusing it can be deciding what to order and how to order. So if you need a little guidance, we hope this page will do the trick.
Bow World Lingo:
Nylon: extremely stretchy, thin, and soft material used to hold the bow. Nylon goes around the babe's head like a headband to display the bow mighty and proud. Nylons are typically used for babes without hair, or for babes who don't like tighter and thicker material on their head.
* M&C Bows offers Nylon in colors khaki and black.
Clips: alligator clips with ridges on 1 side and smooth on the other that open up and close like a mouth. Easy to place into the base of a ponytail or braid, or just pulling hair back away from the face! Clips are typically used for babes with hair who just like the bow and not the band or the headwrap material.
Headwraps: material used to make the bow that is used to complete the band of the headwrap. Here at M&C Bows, the band size is the same width as the bow size. (i.e., 5in bow= 5in width headwrap)
TAT: turn around time. The amount of time from submitting the order to the completion of the order. (This does not include shipping times)
Drop: when the supplier (aka, us) releases new bows in new styles or prints. These may be themed around a holiday, idea, or time of year or just random fabrics we found to be cute that we had to share!
Top Knot: a type of headwrap that does not have a bow on the front. Instead the front has a spiral twist shaped to look like a knot.
Piggies: a set (2) of bows sold together usually used in pigtails.
Bombshell poms: a type of headwrap that has "shredded" pieces of fabric that fans out and looks like a pom pom. There are typically custom made with up to 4 colors and or prints. The band is only made up of one solid or print.
Rep: an individual who shares our business with family and friends, posting on social media wearing our product in a public picture. It is a mutual exchange between the business and the individual for a discounted price on purchased items within a quarterly period of the year.
Bow sizes:
3in- piggies are made in this size, but can also be purchased as a single bow or wrap. Recommended for newborn (mommas who like their bows on the small and simple side).
4in- Recommended for newborn (mommas who love big bows) or baby (term used for child up to a year old) for mommas who like the bows on the simpler side.
5in- Recommended for babies or toddlers
6in- Recommended for toddler and children (or adults!) Mommas who like their bows on the bigger and wilder side.
*These are recommendations, however you may purchase any size for any age. We do not bow size discriminate here at M&C Bows
Headwrap sizes:
Newborn: typically sized for birth to 3 months old (wrap lays flat at 7in)
Baby: typically sized for 3-4 months to 9-12 months old (wrap lays flat at 7.5in)
Toddler: typically sized from 9-12 months old to 3 years old (wrap lays flat at 8in)
Child: typically sized for children 4 years old and up (wrap lays flat at 8.5in)
Teen/Adult: typically sized for teenagers and adults. (wrap lays flat at 9-10in)
